For The Beauty Of The Earth

Thursday, January 12, 2023 – Day 23

Poet Folliott Pierpont, (1835-1917), sat on a hilltop outside his home in Bath, England, admiring the countryside and the winding Avon River. Inspired by the landscape before him, he penned the words that became the hymn, ‘For the Beauty of the Earth’. The first stanza says.

For the beauty of the earth, for the glory of the skies, for the love which from our birth over and around us lies. Christ, our Lord, to you we raise this, our hymn of grateful praise.”

It is these words that keep coming to mind as I am awestruck by the beautiful sunrises and sunsets, we have been privileged to view these past few days. I’ve noticed, and I’m sure you have too, that the most dramatic of sunrises and sunsets often proceed, or follow, a storm or a brush fire, or even a smog choked day. I hope you’ll enjoy seeing some of our Creator’s handiwork in the pictures below.

Even in the storm, a great light shines.
First light makes all things new.
The sun whispers goodnight
Even in the darkness, a great light shines

Be well friends.
