Come travel with us!

Our World Cruise is off to a good start. Although, my learning to blog is bogged down a bit and my body had different ideas. I hurt my back our first day on board (don’t ask me how…?!?!?), so even after resting on our first full day at sea, we missed our port of call in Cozumel, Mexico. No Jungle ATV Adventure for us! We had two more lovely days at sea, and I finally got mobile! We then enjoyed a day in Cartagena, Colombia and the next day in Colon, Panama. We transacted the Panama Canal on Dec. 29th.

Approaching the Panama Canal for an early morning transit
Watching as we go up in the locks and the ship beside lowers down
Through the canal and into the Pacific. The skyline of Panama City is pretty impressive!

After yet another day at sea, we arrived at our next port of call, Puntarenas, Costa Rica. We went on a Crocodile Safari! We saw lots of crocodiles, howler monkeys, iguanas and various beautiful birds and a moth as big as a small bird!

Had a hitchhiker on the ship the next morning. This moth is as big as your hand!

All was going well until I caught a cold! Along with many others on the ship, including our Bridge Instructor, hmmm, maybe that’s where I got it! I was lucky in that I tested negative for Covid – yea! The ship is a lovely place to recuperate. Fortunately, we had four days at sea on our way to Cabo for me to get well. Our cabin has a very nice ‘sitting room/area’ and a beautiful balcony to watch the ocean crash about as I keep an eye out for marine life that I know is just below the surface! I caught a couple of huge sea turtles and lots of flying fish and soaring birds. The birds were feeding on the flying fish, so I was watching a portion of the circle of life play out before my eyes. I felt a bit guilty rooting for the birds when they caught one!

We visited Cabo San Lucas, Mexico yesterday. I was recovered enough to enjoy a wonderful Whale Watching Tour. It is breeding and birthing time for the whales, we spotted many in the warm blue waters off Cabo. I’ve not downloaded my whale pictures yet, so stay tuned!

We are at sea for two days before making port in San Pedro. We’ll clear a customs inspection, rent a car and visit home for several hours to pick up a few things, hopefully make it to church, say hi to our furry kids and make sure they have not driven our most excellent house sitter crazy!
