A Day @ Sea

Friday, January 13, 2023

We’ve been playing Cribbage together since 1972.
On this trip, Jeff is happily ahead in games… yes, we keep score!

Having now completed four consecutive days at sea, with two more to go before Hawaii, my travel buddy wanted to share how his sea days are shaping up. Take it away Jeff…

Donna and I were just discussing how sea days are so much busier than our port days.  The daily schedule has so many things to choose from, but we can’t do it all. I thought I would give you guys a view of my typical day at sea.

6:00 Wake up

7:00 Breakfast

We climb these stairs multiple times a day. The first trip up is to breakfast.

9:30 Attend a lecture on earthquakes that have occurred in Hawaii.

10:30 Go workout while Donna takes a Bridge class & attends a wildlife watch with the Naturalist

This is the view from the Explorer’s Lounge, Deck 7.
This is where the Naturalist holds his daily wildlife watches.

Noonish Lunch

1:00 Maybe a nap or off to the top deck to enjoy some reading and sun while Donna writes our Blog

This is the ‘Sports Deck’, Deck 9. Jeff likes to read up here

2:00 Attend lecture on Pearl Harbor while Donna does laps on the deck

Donna likes to walk on the ‘Sun Deck’, Deck 8, but the weather has to cooperate.

3:00 Play cards or go for a walk with Donna while we look out for whales.

This is Deck 2 Aft we like to play cards here and watch for wildlife
. It is also the deck with the official walking track.
Four times around the ship is one mile.

4:30 Attend a lecture on Captain Cook

5:30 Get ready for the evening

6:30 Attend a lecture on Hawaii landscapes and wildlife

7:30 Dinner

8:45 Attend a magic show

10:00 I’m wiped out and about ready to head off to bed.

In between all of the activities we are meeting people and making friends. We’ve met more than a few people who have taken a number of world cruises. Yesterday we met a couple who are now on their fourth world cruise!

We were a bit worried that we might get bored with so many sea days in a row. We still might, but so far, we are so busy we need a land day just to get some rest. Hawaii here we come!
